What is Haka Dance?



Haka Dance originates from New Zealand 🇳🇿. The haka is a type of ancient Māori war dance traditionally used on the battlefield, as well as when groups came together in peace. Haka are a fierce display of a tribe's pride, strength and unity. It is usually performed before going to a battle or war. It portrays very aggressive facial expressions to scare off opponents, yet its intense cry to uplift morale and call on God to help win the battle. 


Today, haka are still used during Māori ceremonies and celebrations to honour guests and show the importance of the occasions such as family events, like birthdays and weddings. It symbolizes community, strength, and performed for guests as a sign of respect. War, love and respect.


Even by just watching haka dance online is very intense. It shows aggressiveness yet very intense that can make us cry and very emotional.
